Description
Mini Roman Elephant
Elephants were often featured in Roman times. Claudius is said to have paraded to Colchester with a procession of elephants as he began the conquest of Britain. Elephants were also used in the amphitheatre, as were many other exotic animals. Our Roman Elephant is based on a Roman original. Just as today, animals were often the subject of art.
The sculpture is just one of a range of beautiful ‘Miniature Bronzes’ dating from early Egyptian, through to the late European era.
The Roman Elephant is made from resin that has an antique bronze finish. It is supplied in a clear acetate box with an historical information card.
